Ganga Naalas in Uttar Pradesh - Training Data
<aside>
⚡
Challenge
- There are hundreds of naalas in the Ganga River basin draining waste water into Ganga.
- A first step towards developing a scalable plan for pollution remediation is to locate and classify naalas using satellite imagery and machine learning (ML), but no training data is available.

💡
Solution
- Manually generate training data for the machine learning model by tracing naalas for a representative sample of the naalas in the region.
- Summarize the results for sharing with funders.

The layout below is for a project proposal presentation with potential funders, where the goals are
- showcasing the work we have completed so far and
- discussing its potential applications for revitalization of the Ganges.
This layout is designed to communicate the resulting information from our process (described below) of generating training data manually using Google Earth Pro and then processing it in ArcGIS Pro.
